Death by Stereo is an aggressive metal/hardcore hybrid from Southern California, wHO took its nominate from a occupation in the 1987 vampire flick The Lost Boys. The band's lineup underwent numerous changes throughout its careeer, just the guys always persevered with a "ne'er sacrifice up, never yield in" mantra held close. That fall, after a summer exhausted touring behind the record word of God, Barney left to concentrate more time with his former bands, Throwdown and Eighteen Visions, piece Alexander at pacification to engage music full-time at the Berklee School of Music. Dark Angel became known in thrash metallic element circles for their power to present some of the genre's near intriguing and say albums without ever losing touch with its effect attributes of double-dyed amphetamine and cardinal aggressiveness. And although, care many of their peers, the band's attract would never actually stretch beyond the metallic element tube, their recorded bequest has stood the test of time much better than the bulk of their '80s toss metal peers.

Formed in Los Angeles in 1983, Dark Angel went through multitudinous incarnations earlier subsidence on a pretty unchanging lineup featuring vocalist Don Doty, guitarists Eric Meyer and Jim Durkin, bassist Rob Yahn, and drummer Jack Schwartz. After having ane of their demos, "Welcome to the Slaughterhouse," chosen for inclusion on Brian Slagel's Metal Massacre IV assemblage in 1985, the grouping proceeded to gather their unexpended demonstration tapes into a primitive, merely enthusiastic first album called We Have Arrived, released later that year. New drummer Gene Hoglan united the dance band in time to be portrayed on the album arm, merely made his carrying into action debut on 1986's much improved Darkness Descends, released by thrash metal-friendly Combat Records, and commonly viewed by fans as the band's true arrival. Bassist Yahn would deviate shortly after the album's tone ending (replaced by Mike Gonzalez), soon to be followed by original vocalist Doty at tour's end.

Shy about their next step, the Dark Angel undertook a long hiatus before resurfacing with drummer Hoglan securely entrenched as the band's major creative force out. After drafting new vocalist Ron Rinehart, the band recorded 1989's Allow for Scars -- the number 1 of 2 albums which earned them the unbelievable label of progressive lam, due to the longer, more composite songs the band had begun composing. Recorded in April 1989 and released by and by that year, Live Scars introduced novel six-stringer Brett Eriksen, world Health Organization had latterly replaced Durkin, and documented the group's fierce live energy Department. Another elongated break away ensued before the recording of what is arguably their finest effort, 1991's Time Does Not Heal. Hailed by critics for the cobwebby originative scope of its challenging songwriting, the album was considered the last scripture on technical thrash metal, only arrived at the end of jactitate metal's time in the glare and sold sickly. The deviation of Rinehart soon thenceforth convinced Hoglan to detachment the band, and he eventually joined Florida's Death and contributed to some of their finest albums. Relativity Records issued a collection of Dark Angel's finest moments, Decade of Chaos in 1992.

McDonald's(R) Turns to Customers for New Spin on Famous Big Mac(R) Chant

Big Mac's 40th Anniversary Celebration Continues with Fresh Mix

OAK BROOK, Ill., June 18 -- McDonald's USA launched a
national casting call today inviting consumers to submit a video or audio
remix of the popular Big Mac chant on MySpace.com/BigMacChant. The winning
remix will be featured in a McDonald's Big Mac TV commercial that will air
at the end of July. Semi-finalists will be selected by a panel of judges
and the winner will be chosen through an online vote by July 22.*

Keith Reinhard, Chairman Emeritus of DDB Worldwide, and his creative
group at Needham Harper & Steers developed the famous
"Twoallbeefpattiesspecialsaucelettucecheesepicklesonionsonasesameseedbun(R)
" Big Mac jingle in 1974. Now, to continue the celebration of the
sandwich's 40th anniversary, McDonald's is giving consumers a chance to
rediscover their love of the Big Mac with a fresh new twist.

"For 40 years, the Big Mac has been a familiar favorite not only to our
guests in the United States, but around the world," said Neil Golden, chief
marketing officer, McDonald's USA. "To share in the pride we have for our
flagship sandwich, we're inviting our customers to join in the fun and add
their own contemporary touch to the famous tongue-twister that celebrates
the quality ingredients in our iconic sandwich."

Jim "MJ" Delligatti, one of McDonald's founder Ray Kroc's earliest
franchisees, invented the Big Mac in his Uniontown, Pa. restaurant and
introduced it for 45 cents in 1967. Consisting of two 100% all-beef
patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions on a sesame-seed
bun, the Big Mac quickly gained popularity and was introduced on McDonald's
national menu in 1968.

To kick-off the year-long anniversary celebration last August,
Delligatti and his family officially opened the doors to the McDonald's Big
Mac Museum Restaurant -- "the most tasteful museum in the world" -- in
North Huntingdon, Pa. The combo museum/restaurant features the world's
largest Big Mac statue (measuring 14 feet high and 12 feet wide), and
hundreds of historic artifacts and high-tech exhibits that celebrate the
Big Mac. The museum/restaurant is one of 18 McDonald's restaurants owned
and operated by M&J Management, a three-generation family business and
McDonald's franchise organization for 50 years.

Today, more than 500 million Big Mac sandwiches are sold each year in
America alone. The sandwich is sold in more than 100 countries and, because
of its global presence, inspired The Economist Magazine's "Big Mac Index,"
an annual comparison of foreign currency values against the U.S. dollar.

ABC Setting Up Student Bureaus

ABC News President David Westin said in a statement Wednesday that the bureaus will not only allow aspiring TV journalists to experience actual on-the-job training but also give the network a greater insight into the behavior and interests of 18-to-25-year-olds, a demographic group avidly courted by advertisers. Bureau chiefs at the campus facilities will receive additional training at ABC News headquarters in New York, the network said. It was not clear whether any of the students participating in the program will be paid or whether they will only receive college credits. Schools participating in the project include Arizona State University, Syracuse University, University of Florida, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and University of Texas at Austin.

Beth Rowley, Little Dreamer

Soul singers. WHITE soul singers. You can't turn around these days without knocking over a couple. But whereas the Adele's and Duffy's spring from the stage school axis, Beth Rowley comes to us with at least a certain amount of dues-paying done. Born to missionary parents in Lima, she's weathered the Bristol music scene, studied under Carleen Anderson and, most importantly, as a schoolgirl provided backing vocals for Ronan Keating and Enrique Inglesias and that must surely count as about five years-worth of toil in any currency. But joking aside, has Beth really got what it takes to lift herself up above the (very large) crowd?

Firstly, one thing she does have going for her is the the way she handles the gospel blues vein that runs through tracks like Only One Cloud and Almost Persuaded. This girl was born to testify. On Angel Flying Too Close To The Ground she makes the guesting Duke Special sound like an utter wimp. However on You Never Called Me Tonight she can't really manage much more than 'slightly peeved', instead of the anguish that such a song needs.

But it seeems harsh to berate someone so young for not being bitter and twisted enough. The real trouble lies, as it so often does, with the production. Too often this album plays it safe, being to scared to alienate any toast-munching Wogan listeners and lacking real punch. A track like So Sublime is so lightweight, floating so close to the danger area marked 'Eva Cassidy', that it virtually floats off the CD.

Yet, the bulk of the material - a poppy blues jazz amalgam - is actually fine, being mostly co-written by Ben (son of Roy) Castle; placing her in a more mainstream Jamie Cullum mould. And she handles covers extremely well. Her take on Nobody's Fault But Mine is affecting, though perhaps her reggae version of Dylan's I Shall Be Released is a little too happy for the song's sentiments.

From all reports Rowley can really get down to the nitty gritty on stage, but it doesn't come through enough on this album making it a missed opportunity, but not a hopeless cause. We surely haven't heard the last of Beth Rowley.
